AMF Harley-Davidson 1975 - 1978 SX 250

This was the first 250cc 2-stroke for road and off-road use with AMF on the tank. Some sources claim the first year of production was in 1974, but the workshop manual says it is 1975. The SX 175 was the basis for the SX 250 and only the 75cc capacity increase is new. The bore went from 61mm to 72mm, but the stroke remained unchanged. A positive thing mentioned in one of the test reports was that you can start your engine in any gear.

The SX 250 remained in production until the end of the AMF period in 1978 and the warranty in the USA was 2 months or 2000 miles. They were sold new in the Netherlands for 4,195 guilders.
