Aermacchi HD 1965 Model M-50 50cc

Harley-Davidson promoted the affordability and easy-riding characteristics of the 1965 Model M-50. Its 50cc two-stroke engine developed 2.5 horsepower. The three-speed, Cascade-type, hand-shifted transmission was cable-controlled from the right handgrip. Assembled in the Aermacchi-Harley-Davidson factory in Lake Varese in Varese, Italy, this was the company's smallest motorcycle to date. The M-50 weighed 103 pounds, had a 1.6 gallon gas tank, and returned 45 miles per gallon. This example, in Holiday Red and White, sold for $225 new. Aermacchi-Harley-Davidson manufactured about 9,000 of these in 1965.
