Aprilia Motorcycles, 1960s-1980s Models

Motorcycles of the first three decades.

Production began in 1967-1968

Machines were built using 123cc Sachs and Hiro two-stroke engines for trials and moto-cross along with numerous 49cc machines. Some versions have 6-speed engines of Minarelli manufacture. There are also models with Franco-Morini engines. Aprilia machines were also known under the Scarabeo trade mark.

Scarabeo Franco-Morini 49cc

Franco-Morini engine, wheels 21" front, 18" rear, Marzocchi forks, aluminium hubs (Mozzi di alluminio).





Daniela 49cc Moped 1968-69

Franco-Morini engine, 12mm Dell'Orto, centrifugal clutch, 60km per litre, 41kg.

A very similar version was advertised in 1972 as the Daniela Mini with 3x10" wheels.



Amico 48 - 1968-1969

At least three versions. 1968 had exhaust on the right, 69 exhaust on the left but otherwise the same.

The 69 Amigo Super had Franco Morini engine, different bodywork and exhaust, with high "chopper" style seat.



1970 Colibri

Very sporty little machine, 5 speed Franco Morini engine, 19mm Dellorto


Aprilia models for 1972 as per Italian colour brochure: Scarabeo Bimbo, Scarabeo (R/T, dual seat), Scarabeo (R/T, solo seat), Selvaggio (moped, solo seat).
The Selvaggio moped had a Franco Morini 4M Turbo engine, tyres 3.35x16 rear, 2.75x16 front, solo seat.

1976 Partner

3 speed 49cc Franco Morini, alloy wheels. Later models had 49cc Minarelli engines.

1978 RC50

Chrome-plated alloy barrel, wet clutch. 118mm dia. drum brakes front and rear. Upside-down inclined rear suspension units.

The 1980 version had a different colour scheme but was otherwise very similar.



1980 Under 18

4 speed, wet clutch two-stroke.

1980 Under 21

Introduced in 1976, four-speed Franco Morini engine

The 1982 model had gold alloy wheels.

1981 TI320 Trials

Hiro two-stroke, pre-mix, chrome moly frame, 32mm forks with 175mm travel.



1981 Trial 50

Air-cooled 6 speed pre-mix 2-stroke, Dell'Orto carburettor. Marzocchi 30 mm forks with 145 mm travel. Marzocchi adjustable rear shock absorbers with 5 positions.

1981 Filo 50

Centrifugal clutch, drum brakes front & rear

Filo G4 L: Franco Morini engine, 49.6 cc, 4-speed gearbox, front disc brake, 2.75X16″ front, 3.25X16″ rear, kerb weight 57 kg.


1982 ST125

6 speed gearbox, wet clutch.
