Cito Motorcycles

Manufactured by Cito-Fahrrad-Werke, Cologne 1905-1927
Köln-Klettenberg, Luxemburger Straße 280.

Established in 1896 as Cito-Werke AG of Suhl, Thuringia, a bicycle manufacturer, the company began building automobiles in 1899 and discontinued in 1901. Bicycle production was around 8,000 per annum.

In late 1903 they began manufacturing motor bicycles powered by single cylinder Fafnir-engines, joined in 1906 by a twin-cylinder Zedel. Motorcycle production ceased shortly thereafter.

The firm also built Citomobile passenger and commercial four-wheeled vehicles. Early in the piece they made calculators.

After the Great War they resumed bicycle production, in July 1922 they purchased the Motorfahrzeugbau Gebrüder Krieger firm and presented the Krieger-Gnädig 500KG 1 in 1922. Shortly thereafter the company underwent further restructure, the shares were transferred to Köln-Lindenthaler Metallwerke AG and the brand name became Allright. The firm continued to produce the Allright-KG along with a new model. The factory ceased motorcycle manufacture in the late 1920s but construction of the KG continued in small numbers by Henkel of Mäbendorf until 1932.

Notes
1. Krieger-Gnädig translates as Graceful or Merciful Warrior, but it is actually the names of the company principals, the Krieger brothers and Franz Gnädig.
