Trianon Motorcycles

Manufactured by Trianon Fahrradwerke Heinrich Wittler Jr., of Herford (near Bielefeld), 1922-1924

In late 1922 the firm offered a motorcycle with a 2.5 hp two-stroke engine and a two-speed gearbox and belt drive. A luxury version with toolboxes appeared in early 1923 for 3.5 million marks. The seemingly high price was due to hyperinflation.

Further developed with the engine increased to 233cc (65x70mm b/s), the machine had a claimed top speed of 85 km/h. The firm had a stand at the Stuttgart Motorcycle Show of May 1924, and a network of dealerships developed throughout the Ruhr region and in major cities like Berlin and Munich.

The economic situation took its toll, bankruptcy proceeding ensued, and the company assets were put up for auction in late 1924.

Somehow they survived, a new company was formed, but motorcycle production was not resumed.

During these years the marque was well represented in competition by their 198cc and 233cc motorcycles, and late in the piece Heinz Wittler raced a Trianon-JAP in the 750cc and 1000cc classes.

N.B. There was another Wittler in Bielefeld, Heinrich Wittler & Co.
