ED Motorcycles

Manufactured in Tuttlingen by Eberwein & Diener Motorenbau GmbH, 1925-1927

Christian Diener became acquainted with BMW designer Eberwein, who had developed a new kind of engine, and together they produced motorcycles.

Eberwein's E 65 engine was a two-stroke offered in both air-cooled and water-cooled versions. Designed for horizontal installation, the cylinder and cylinder head fins ran lengthwise along the cylinder axis. It was fitted with an external flywheel.

In 1926 the "ED" motorcycle appeared. The E65 engine had a capacity of some 244cc, and power was transmitted to the rear wheel via a separate gearbox and chain drive. The frame was of double-loop design, equipped with a leaf-spring front fork.

Motorcycle production ceased in 1927, but the company survives to this day as a producer of surgical instruments.
