Derbi models of the 1950s had Jawa engines. In the early 1960s they built their own engines based on the Sachs 65cc. These were of 49cc and 74cc.

These were produced in two series, the first appearing in 1964. Some 100 examples were built, and used a the chassis, tank, seat and fairing derived from their "Gran Sport" roadster model. The second series differed in many respects, and only about 20 were constructed.
