500 c.c. O.H.V. SPECIAL "SPEEDWAY" MODEL

The "James" "Speedway" Model has been specially designed to meet the peculiar and strenuous work to which these "Speedway" machines arc subjected to in dirt track racing. The machine is fitted with a "James" O.H.V. Twin Engine, specially built for the purpose, so as to provide extreme acceleration to high speed which in the hands of a skilful driver is by far the most important factor in winning races. The drive is taken to a multi-plate hand-controlled clutch, which is mounted on a counter shaft carried in a generous sized bearing housing, and from thence by suitable gearing to the rear wheel. Spare sprockets to suit any particular track conditions are available. The frame is particularly rigid and strong, being trussed laterally to prevent whip. The front fork is also furnished with two auxiliary lateral girders which adequately stiffen the fork to withstand the severe stresses produced by bro3dsiding. The steering of the machine is very good, and the centre of gravity is probably lower than any other machine of its type, which accounts for its unique track holding qualities and steadiness in cornering. We have no hesitation in recommending this machine, which has received many expressions of approbation from some of the most prominent "Speedway" exponents.
