Tube Investments

Tube Investments (later known as TI Group) was a British engineering company specialising in the manufacture and manipulation of tubing.
  • 1919 Registered as a public company combining the seamless steel tube manufacturing companies of Tubes Limited, New Credenda Tube (later known as Creda), Star Tube and St. Helen's Tube and Metal.
  • 1919 Accles and Pollock (tube makers) was purchased.
  • 1928 Reynolds Tubes was purchased.
  • 1928 Ivan Stedeford joins company and elected CEO (1935) and Chairman (1944) and in 1963 retires as Chairman and CEO and assumes title of Life President.
  • 1960 Raleigh Industries joined the group bringing with it BSA Cycles and J. B. Brookes.
  • 1961 Employed 55,000 persons in the group.
  • Also owned Weldless Steel Tube Co, Loewy Robertson Engineering, Richard and Ross.
  • 1963 Purchased Russell Hobbs.
  • 1968 Queen's Award to Industry for Technological Innovation with Tubes.
  • 1987 Creda was sold to GEC Group.
  • 1992 Dowty Group was purchased.
  • 1996 Accles and Pollock was sold to Hay Hall Group.
