Basigli Motorcycles

A Brief History of the Marque

Remigio Basigli of Ravenna, an athlete, designed and built a new type of rotary engine in 1952. Using the Wankel concept, the RBR 125cc engine weighed only 13kg and was exhibited at the 1960 Milan Show in a new drive to find backing for production, without success.

The NSU Wankel project began around the same time, but it is believed that a working version of the Basigli was demonstrated well before the NSU.
