Last race meeting at Brooklands, recorded in The Times. With the outbreak of war motor racing ceased and the site was turned over to war-time production of military aircraft. Racing never returned to Brooklands.

Angelle Monique Sampey born New Orleans, Louisiana. She became three-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle World Champion. On retirement in 2010 her final stats were 364 round wins in 506 competitions.

Artie Bell of Ulster dies at 67.

Following several impressive performances as a privateer he joined Norton as a works rider for the 1948 season. He placed first in the 1950 350cc Junior and second in the 500cc Senior. Bell also claimed the North West 200 for a third time. Later that year he was injured at the Belgian GP and was unable to ride again.
