Reg Armstrong wins the 500cc Class Spanish Grand Prix aboard a Gilera four-cylinder at Montjuic Circuit. The Honda team took five world championships in 1962 and 1963 under his management.

Geoffrey Ernest Duke, OBE, died on the Isle of Man. He was 92 years old. He won six GP championships and took first place on the IOM on five occasions. He raced Norton, Gilera, BMW, NSU and Benelli motorcyles.
