(Left) A standard type of piston. Note small drilled holes on the bevelled edge of the lower groove. (Right) Gudgeon pin fixing. A domed copper cap is placed in the hole and expanded into the groove by pressure. The cap on one side has a central hole through which to insert a rod when removing the cap on the opposite side.
