Cocymo Mopeds and Motorcycles

A Brief History of the Marque

Manufactured: 1955-1959

Established in St Etienne by the merger of several small firms, Métropole, Sterling, and Racer (bicycles), joined shortly by VBF and Picard Fayolle (mopeds & motorcycles), Cocymo produced between 30 and 40,000 machines, mostly mopeds but also scooters and light motorcycles.

Roquebert marketed rebadged Cocymo machines, or were possibly a Cocymo marque.

The firm absorbed Génial Lucifer around 1957. These were difficult times for the motorcycle trade due to the influx of light motor cars, and despite negotiations with Ravat and Monet Goyon, the firm filed for bankrupty and closed in 1959.
