Biker Hangouts

If you know of any good biker hangouts please send your information and it will be added here.  Also please include as much information as possible, including the type, style or brand of motorcycle most likely to be found there, location, address, telephone, etc.

If it is just a Harley hangout, or only Japanese bikes, this probably isn't the appropriate place to list it, after all this is the "European Motorcycle Universe".

Philippines:  Typical Biker hangout is in Total Gas Station near Fil-invest or in Gold Rush near Ayala Alabang Town Center which both are located in Alabang.  Hang out is usually on a Thursday between 9 p.m. to midnight.  -- rsc<at>cii.com.ph

One of my favorite places is the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, they have two locations the original in Syracuse, New York USA and one in Rochester, NY. Started by bikers that couldn't find good eats at motorcycle rallys.  They have live Blues (no cover) every night except Sundays, the food is awesome and they usually get a pretty good biker/mixed crowd. In all my times there I've always had a good time and never seen any violence.

Milwaukee Wisconsin USA -129th and Bluemound. Tuesday eve..from 530-730pm

L&W Meats http://www.bikebitsonline.com/twowheeltuesday.html [404]

All brands are there. From Choppers to Tritons. EML rigs to Ural Rigs. 30-100 bikes depending on the weather. Lots of old modified American/British stuff. Its a deli and they have good sandwiches. they place is empty by 730pm...

Then jump on the bike and cruise on down to -

'The Garage' for Two Wheeled Tuesdays there. http://www.mke1.com/MKEDrinks/reviews/hihatgarage.html [404]

Milwaukee - corner of Brady and Arlington. Very hip area. Lots of coffee shops, tea houses, and bars.

The Garage is a bar with 2 HUGE! bigscreens and has Speed chan or MC videos playing. They have a sidewalk permit and you can gawk at bikes with your beverage of choice. Great atmosphere. Hardcore cafe-racers are the cliental. Its a mellow 'rocker' scene and everybody is cool. All brands are welcome. Dont talk any crap, 90% of these guys and gals are roadracers if their not racers they are builders. 20-80 bikes show from 6pm till midnight.

Port Costa California (East Bay, San Francisco) USA should be included on your Biker Hangouts page because of two reasons:
McEwen Road
Carquinez Scenic Dr.

These two roads are the ONLY ways in to this sleepy little town on the Carquinez Straight, and they are VERY twisty. Ergo, a lot of the folks that end up in Port Costa ride bikes.  You'll see Harleys (mostly) but on weekends the sportbikes put in a showing too, as well as the European (Triumph, BMW, Ducati) sport-touring and adventure-touring bikes.  The large parking lot at the end of the main street is GRAVEL, but it's nae too bad if you let it roll in first or second gear, and there's lots of parking there.  There's one or two saloons, plus you can sit outside and people-watch, or check out the freights and passenger trains headed between Martinez and Oakland on the SP tracks, or the boats headed through the Straight up the Sacramento river from the SF bay.

Rides that are close by include the aforementioned McEwen Road (twisty, steep and narrow), Carquinez Scenic Dr. (not quite as narrow, also more traffic), Franklin Canyon (relaxed cruising road), Alhambra Valley Road, Bear Creek Road (to Wildcat Canyon, Grizzly Peak, Skyline, etc etc), and assorted freeways for those who don't want to scuff the chrome on their custom footpegs. Easy ride for those in SF, Oakland, or Vallejo. San Jose, Livermore Valley, Sacramento, Stockton, well, you're gonna be ridin' for a wee bit to get there.

Crossroads: Interstate 80 (E or W) to CA Hwy 4 East - McEwen Rd / Cummings
Skyway Exit - OR Interstate 680 (N or S) to CA Hwy 4 W to McEwen Rd exit.
1) Take Cummings Skyway to Crockett Blvd, then turn right off of Crockettt Blvd. on Pomona St. This becomes Carquinez Scenic Dr. (and very twisty); follow it to Port Costa. or
2) Take Franklin Canyon Rd. to McEwen, pass under the freeway, then prepare for twisty downhill run to Port Costa.

Poor Red's Hwy 49, Plymouth California USA, about 7 miles south of Hwy 50 from Placerville. Poor Red's has the best ribs in the Sierra Nevada foothills.  Sundays the restaurant opens at 2:00 PM, other days it's 4:00 PM.  The bar is open earlier.  There is even some covered parking inside the old auto garage next door.  Poor Red's claims to be the largest consumer of Galiano liquor in the world.  This is because of the "Gold Cadillac" served at the bar, be careful they sneak up on you.  The menu is limited to about four items and you give your order when you walk-in.  The waitress will call you when your table is ready and the food is on the table within a few minutes after you sit down.  If you haven't ridden Hwy 49 through the foothills, Poor Red's is the second best reason to give it a run. The Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas, California USA (just off the 101 freeway at Mulholland) is a great place to ogle at the collection of custom Harleys, sportbikes, BMW, Ducati and sometimes Moto Guzzi, to say nothing of the biker chicks waiting at the bar for beers and margaritas after their stop at the Rock Store up the road. Sunday afternoons in the summer are a treat for sore eyes. 22527 Calabasas Road, Calabasas, CA 818-222-6062 -- Kevin Fitzpatrick  --  kevfitz at earthlink.net

Kansas City Missouri USA: Wednesday night is the one. Action begins at "The Other Place" in downtown Overland Park around 6:00 with about 250 bikes.  Food is good, soft drinks on the house.  The scene is mostly Harleys but we others are steadily expanding our corner boundaries. Around 8:00 a TT begins to Frankie D's on Kansas Highway 32.  Big outdoor parking/patio/band area keeps crowd until about 11:00. For euro-bikes, try the Sunshine Cafe in DeSoto, Kansas at 9:00 Sunday mornings and McBrides in Overland Park on the second Tuesday nights monthly.  --  Jon Meulengracht  -- jonmeul at hotmail.com

Superior Wisconsin USA hosts a Superior Bike Nite, twice a Month, excluding winter time. Meeting on the second and forth Thursday of the month at 6:30pm and leaving at 7pm from Carigan's CC Tap. Holiday Everglades Park. Corner of Rt27 and Griffin Rd Fort Lauderdale Fla USA area.
Big mix of bikes. Cruisers/sportbikes and has a great atmosphere. BMW, Ducati and Triumph(come on Guzzi owners) are well represented. 200+ bike on Sunday morning.  The place is in the Fort Lauderdale area at the end of Griffin Rd going west until it ends at the Everglades.  There's no restaurant, but there's a snack bar with sandwiches, dogs and burgers.  A baitstore next door has beverages and for people who want their beverage to remain a mystery they have these cool little brown paper bags!!  Be careful with the food, a parrot may come by and grab a bite while you have your eyes glued to the Cafe Sportster or that trick 996R with the custom wheels.  Birds are everywhere and the Peacocks are very cool.  I was there from about 10:30am till 1:30pm and bikes were still coming and going.  I went back that eve and I saw my first 'gator in the wild.  He was chomping on some huge fish that must have had smaller teeth than him, about 15 feet from shore!!!!  The sun went down and me and my daughter loaded our fishing poles in the sidecar (1 gar and 2 catfish) and headed out.........humming Cheeseburger in Paradise.
Its a cool place.

Village of Hawes, N. Yorkshire, U.K., On the A684, a road paralleling the River Ure in the Yorkshire Dales, is the small village of Hawes.  On Sundays it is full of bikes, sport and touring, mostly a young enthusiasts crowd.  Small shops and restaurants service the visitors. It is a true "riders" spot with none of the poser type seen in the States.  The area is the Yorkshire Dales National Park with excellent roads and scenery around. 20 miles East is Leyburn with several friendly "tea and cake" shops and a nice hotel. To the West is Kendal and the Lake District, with towns like Windermere and Ambleside, loaded with attractions.  --  MattKelch at aol.com

There are at least 3 very good biker hangouts in Atlanta, Georgia USA.  First of all there is Euclid Ave. Yacht Club in Little Five Points- mostly a hangout for Harleys & assorted European cruisers.  Secondly, there is the Vortex in Little Five Points - every Thursday evening 6 PM on there is a large gatering of sportbikes & riders.  Thirdly there is the $3 Cafe in Buckhead - every Sunday there is a large gathering of all types of bikes.  Cheers & keep the rubber side down.  --  Dave  --  dharris at gpo.gov

Hi! Here a small contribution to add to your list of European Biker's hang-outs.

Thunder Roadhouse
Stratumseind

The Other Place
(Hells Angels Club Cafe)
OZ Voorburgwal
Amsterdam  The Netherlands

Bikers Saloon
(Hells Angels Club Cafe)
Stationsweg
Sittard  The Netherlands

The Roadhouse really is a fantastic hang-out for everyone who loves bikes, especially Harleys, but everyone, even guys with Japanese rides, are welcome! Good atmosphere, no prob if you wanna bring your ol' lady, it's definitely safe for women, no fights, monthly jam-sessions, live-music etc.  Check it out!!!

Black And White: Same as above, only no live-music, but very loud rock.

The Other Place and The Biker's Saloon: Owned by the Hells Angels Holland, but an absolute must when you're in the area!  Good music, pool, marihuana (legal in Holland, but don't try to take some back to other countries!!!), very nice easy-going atmosphere!

Well,I hope you can do something with this information,

The Griffith Observatory, at the north end of Vermont Avenue in Hollywood, California USA has been a gathering place for all types of motorcycles for the last forty years.  We used to see hundreds of motorcyclists of all brand persuasions on a Sunday morning before the City of Los Angeles started charging a token admission fee.  The park is free again, and the sweeping panoramic view from the dedicated motorcycle parking area is worth the visit, especially on a clear day, when Santa Barbara island, seventy-five miles out in the blue Pacific Ocean can be spotted, as well as snow-capped Mt. Jacinto, ninety miles to the south, in the desert.  A few die-hard riders make their regular appearances on Sunday mornings, but, who knows? It could happen all over again.  Drop by for a cup of coffee at the snack bar, and enjoy the view.  --  Kaybearjr at aol.com

My name is Jo Ann Robertson. My husband, Dar, and I have just opened a new Bed & Breakfast in Corrales, New Mexico, USA.

We are both motorcycle riders, and offer a covered garage area for motorcycles. There are multiple day trips that can be taken while staying in the B&B. Or just an overnight stay with a wonderful full breakfast before you hit the road. This year is the 75th anniversary of historic Route 66.

We are located 45 minutes South of Santa Fe and 15 minutes North of Albuquerque. The architecture of our B&B is called New Mexican territorial. This style of architecture was created approximately 300 years ago and utilized the material available to the Spanish settlers. This consists of Adobe walls and wood resources that were available in the area. Examples are available in the digital photographs on our web site at www.casadekoshare.com

We welcome travelers from all cultures and are is interested in learning from them and they may be from learning from us. We are within an hours drive from 10 different Native American reservations. http://www.indianpueblo.org

Greenhills Shopping Center parking lot around 10pm-1130pm every Saturdays if weather permits (Manila, Philippines)

You can see all types of bikes from Japanese cruisers, sport bikes, standards, and a few Europeans.  Since Philippine bike market is not really big, you can see around 10-20 on a typical weekend.  People usually meet up at that time and then exchange stories and then cruise around different parts of the city.  Lots of scooter clubs hang out here as well, sometimes you even see classic American cars, VW clubs, and Big-wheel 4WD clubs hanging out in this area.  Here are some pictures...

One cannot forget Zeitgeist, at Valencia and Duboce, San Francisco, CA, USA.  Outdoor beer garden, lots of city bikes, and their ads say it all: "No Motorcycles, No Beer, No Women, Stay Away" I'll see you there Friday.  --  Charles Rauseo  -- Charles.Rauseo at frogdesign.com

I live in Fruitvale BC Canada which is just across the border from Washington north of Spokane & am an ex-pat Aussie. One Biker Hangout is the Ymir Hotel at Ymir British Columbia Canada, not far from Fruitvale via Salmo.  It's a very old building from last century & has heaps of character.  I guess most of the bikes there are Harleys & lookalikes, but my buddy Mike & myself are trying to educate the local populace to the joys of Ducati riding.  I have a 900 Monster & he a 900ss Limited Edition.  The roads in the area are as good as I've seen anywhere in the world. Hardly a straight section of road anywhere & good surfaces.

Wolf's Grill at Pine Mountain Inn, Ventura County, California USA Located on Highway 33, approximately 30 miles north of the city of Ojai. Open Saturday and Sunday.  All types of roadworthy bikes show up here. More bikes on Sunday than Saturday.  I've seen 10 or more Velocettes here from a local club.  In the morning, it's mostly Sport Bikes, Sport Tourers and old Standards.  The afternoon sees more Harleys and Metric Cruisers.  Highway 33 is an excellent motorcycle road, with almost no cross traffic.  Side trips on Lockwood valley road and Cerro Noroeste road are also good.  Beware of winter.  This road tops 5000 feet (1525 meters) elevation, and snow and black ice can exist from November through February.  Debris, ranging from pea gravel to baseball sized rocks, is common after stormy weather.

Sharon Pennslyvania USA
There is a place called 'The Quaker Steak and Lube' in Sharon, Pa that has a tremendous Weds night bike night. It's actually 3 bars/ restaurants often referred to as '3 by the river'.  Very popular around there.

2000-2500 bikes on an average weds. 4000 when they are giving away a Harley. Our own redoubtable Smilin JAck is a regular, who needs some help holding down the Euro corner with his Laverda.  When you enter the lot go all the way to the back (ignore flagging, waving parking boy scums- jack's advise) where you will find some large stone blocks the Euro boys sit on. Good luck!

Quaker Steak and Lube, downtown Sharon Pa. USA Bike night every wed.  May thru Oct. sometimes 5000 plus bikes gather for bike night, giveaway of 2 enclosed trailers, and 3 HD Sportsters during the summer. American, German and Italian bikes and cars on display year around. Best wings and beer everyday, open 365 days per year. Currently several other lubes are opening throughout the Midwest. Sharon Pa. is the original and largest.  --  Willserv at aol.com

Hickory North Carolina USA
Every Thursday night from around 6pm until whenever, at Arby's on hwy 321 in Hickory NC all brands of bikes begin filling up the parking lot. Harleys, Japanese bikes, European brands, even some homemade trikes and scooters will be found and everyone gets along great, walking around admiring all the other bikes, eating and swapping lies. Plenty of sport bikes doing donuts and burnouts. One night there was even a 1500 Goldwing doing burnouts. That big tourer really had the smoke rolling. The management welcomes all riders (even burnouts) and the Police ride through occasionally, just enough to keep things from getting crazy,( i.e. some sporters like to do wheelies and drag up 321 in front of the place and the traffic is really just to heavy for that even up until 10pm) but they really don't hassle anyone.

Mother's restaurant, Palomar Mountain, California USA
The roads that lead to the top of Mt. Palomar are contrasting works of art. South Grade Road is a twisty, steep, switchback laden beauty with perfect asphalt banking.  This is a great road for people who like tight bends.  East Grade Road is a wide radius turn road with sweeping vistas.  The restaurant at the top of the mountain is a vegetarian affair- but the food is great. Weekends will find lots of Italian bikes and an equal number of Japanese bikes.  A few Harleys and the smattering of British and 'other' bikes round out what you can expect at this San Diego County two wheeled Mecca. An added bonus- visit the Palomar Observatory and it's historic Hale 200 inch telescope, for a long time the largest telescope on earth.  --  Kevin Seiler  --  mseiler at racal-pelagos.com

At Mullholland Highway turn right.  Continue about 1/2 mile and you can't miss it!!  It's European stuff from 7:30 am to about 11:00am, Then it's a Harley show.  --  Whe44edw at aol.com

The 'Fox n' Firkin' Pub, 1st and Madison, Corvallis, Oregon USA.  Bikers welcome, Friday afternoons draw the most. Harleys primarily, but a blend of BMW's, Triumphs, and a Guzzi (mine) or two.  Lots of Micro-brews (try "Kilt Lifter"), plus full bar, inc. good Scotch, & cigars too (smoking only permitted outside).  Pub style food, including fish & chips, meat pies and the like. Outside seating for 50 or so. Casual atmosphere, has been known to be pleasantly rowdy but not a place to fight or look for one. Cute and friendly waitresses.  Bike parking at the curb. (get there early).  Music inside later in the eve.  --  Douglas R VanPelt  vanpelt110 at proaxis.com

New York City, New York USA   --  The "NYC Hang" takes place every Tuesday night at the Ear Bar, 326 Spring Street in downtown Manhattan starting around 7:30 till 11-12PM.

Though all brands come and are welcome, it is very much a European bike crowd at heart.   The Ear is easily reached from NJ and points west, being just a couple of blocks north of the Holland Tunnel. NYC's motorcycle-unfriendly reputation is worse then the reality.  While sparsely (but some folks always show up) attended in the winter, the warm weather brings out quite a few interesting people, and their bikes.   --   regards,  --  Walter Barlow  wpbarlow at home.com

There is not much of a bikerscene in Shanghai, basically, we ride and restore the Chinese copies of BMW R71, called the Chang Jiang or Chang Hong.  You will find us quite frequently at the Irish pub listed above.  You might get very lucky and spot one of the only two Harleys (89cui.Sportster Barhopper & Heritage Softtail) in Shanghai, but this occurs very seldom, since they are both stored in my living room.

NEPTUNE'S NET :  One of So. Cal's best rides (pacific coast highway) has one of the best hang outs. Neptune's Net is on Pacific Coast Highway at the Los Angeles CA USA  -  Ventura county line. Bikers of every kind show up for a cold drink and some fresh seafood at this out door beach restaurant / market. You can ogle 50 - 100 bikes on weekends while your clams are steaming, and by a six pack of your favorite beverage in their market. Then you can kick back at one of the many shaded out door picnic benches and watch the biker / surfer babes come and go.  Truly a culture clash, but fun. Lots of hot rods show up also, A stereotypical California place to see and be seen. --   Kerylow, Bill J BJKerylow at DIRECTV.com

Now here are two bars right next to each other so if you get thrown out of one you can walk next door to the other (this does happen..)  Whiskey Junction is your typical urban biker bar, most of the bikes you will see parked out front are Harley's but there are plenty of other bikes there as well.  Caboose will usually have a band so expect a cover charge of about $4.00.  Both places are pretty good sized bars and they about two blocks from the highway if you need a quick getaway.   --  Eric Hove --  ERICH at mail.epginc.com

My favorite biker hangout is:

Dulano's Pizza
607 West Lake Street
Minneapolis, Minnesota USA
612/827-1726

Here in "Uptown" Minneapolis, we are blessed with two great bike  spots, Bob's Java Hut and once a month, Dulono's Pizza. On the first Thursday of each month (in riding weather) and you know we are pretty liberal about that definition, somewhere between 100 and 300 bikes show up a Dulono's  for what is officially the meeting of the Norton Club. Fact is, all sorts of bikers on all sorts of bikes show up to gawk at each other's machines and tell lies. The president of the Norton Club makes a few announcements but that's pretty easy to ignore. Pizza is OK but the company is outstanding.  --  Al Olme  aolme at scc.net

Alice's Restaurant
Skyline Drive in the mountains west of San Jose , California USA
between Santa Rosita and San Jose.
Awesome spot for all sorts of cafe racers, vintage/ new 300 - 400 bikes on a weekend. Bring a camera. Lots of custom racers. Food at Alice's is good also. Great scenery, lots of twisties.  -- th01 at gte.com

This one will take a while to travel to:
't Oor (the Ear), music cafe, Olen, Belgium
Good music, nice atmosphere
All kinds of bikes, especially during the weekends. Many Italian bikes, since the owner has a history in the Belgian Guzzi Club. He used to own a very trick Sport 1100 carbie. Now rides (amongst others) a Mike Hailwood Replica. They have a nice 2 by 3 m large Guzzi logo built in their interior. regards, --  Pastaboy  lieven.loots at arts.kuleuven.ac.be

Langelinie Quai
Copenhagen Denmark
Sundays 1:00 p.m.

Every Sunday around 13.00 hrs during season (April-October) and, of course, weather permitting, the Copenhagen Classic Motorcycles meet at the end of the Langelinie Quai (close to the Little Mermaid).   Major part of bikes is British, rest is Danish (Nimbus), west-European and American (no Japanese). We chat, drink and eat for a while and start our for a ride around the Copenhagen area.  --  Jørgen Kindt-Ipsen,  Jorgen.Kindt-Ipsen at TekniskForlag.dk

I would like to nominate Payne's Biker Cafe in Leesburg, Virginia USA. It's mostly a Harley kind of place, but the folks are friendly enough to other (er, Euro) brands, especially Guzzis. Food is bar grub: Chili, Dogs, Fries, etc. Beer is (mostly) bottled, but ice cold. Usually one can see a dozen or so bikes parked out front. It's right across the street from the County jail.

Another place is the Olney Ale House in Olney, Maryland USA. Every Sunday (in warm weather) around 3-4 PM, Euro bikers seem to gravitate there. Excellent selection of beers and the food is pretty good too. You'll see just about anything there: old BMWs, Ducatis, Guzzis (when I'm there) even a few Harleys and Jap bikes. Haven't seen any Urals, though!  --  Joel O'Rourke orourke at alc.com

San Francisco Bay Area of California USA
IronHorsemen Rides
Sundays
ALWAYS meet for breakfast, even if the weather cancels the ride.
The ride list is also on the WEB at:
http://home.earthlink.net/~kevinmcd/IronHorsemen.htm

Rides start times are for breakfast, then the ride departs one hour later.  Even if you can't make the ride itself, you're always welcome to join us for breakfast and help in swapping tall tales and 'bench-racing'. Show up fully gassed and ready to ride.

The usual ride is out to a lunch destination and then back. WE HATE THE FREEWAYS and therefore always try to take backroads where possible, both for the lower traffic and also for the scenery.

ALL brands/styles of bikes are welcome.  All skill-levels are welcome.

If you want more information, or just want to talk, you can contact Kevin at KevinMcD at earthlink.net or Call Tom & Nan at (650) 324-3404

Biker hangouts in Southern California USA

The Rock Store- Famous hangout and restaurant on Mullholland Hwy. in the Santa Monica Mountains North of L.A, above the Malibu Beach area. Many, many different bikes show up on Sundays, ranging from Harley customs to European exotics, including, every so often, several ridden by notables such as Jay Leno and Peter Fonda. This is the premier Biker hangout.

Newcombe's Ranch- On Angeles Crest Hwy. This restaurant/log ranch house caters mostly to the "sport" crowd and is a good place to see the latest Ducatis, Laverdas,Triumphs and BMW sport models. Throw in an a Aprilia or two among them and a myriad Japanese rockets and you have a wonderful morning of bike gazing...The road is spectacular, but keep an eye out for the constables if you choose to ride aggressively. Also watch for inexperienced riders and drivers blasting into corners too fast and coming onto your lane head-on. This spot along with The Lookout mentioned bellow are frequent staging areas for various Motomagazine evaluation rides.

The Lookout- Located right off of Ortega Hwy in Southern Orange County, this restaurant/hangout offers a beautiful view of the Lake Elsinore valley 2000 Feet below. On any Sunday, quite a few bikes make the pilgrimage up the hill to this scenic post. Sport bikes seem to dominate the early morning while Harleys come in later and in the afternoon. It is approximately 30 miles inland from the San Diego Freeway off ramp labeled "Ortega Hwy". This road is well kept and leads to spirited riding. Be forewarned, however, that it is a "double-the-fine" zone if caught by the Highway Patrol.

Cook's Corner-On Santiago Canyon Road in South-East Orange county, caters to the Harley crowd, although lately more varied bikes have shown up, ranging from Honda Valkiries to Moto Guzzis. This hangout features food, a bar and a small "swap meet" type area selling souvenirs, T-shirts and sunglasses. Sunday is the busy day, although Saturday nights include Country western theme dancing. The road up is an easy ride, not at all challenging.
