Marinos Kalothis was one of several Greek manufacturers that built 3-wheel utility vehicles which could be classified either as motorcycles or trucks. The business began operations after WWII as a bicycle and, later, motorcycle repair shop, and built its first vehicles in the early 1960s. Derived from the manufacturer's name, since 1970 the Markal brand was used - the vehicles were fitted with Sachs engines and were structured in the classic Greek "truck with motorcycle controls" style, similar to those produced in many other European nations. Production ended in 1982.
