| The Jawa 895 Longtracker |
Frequent visitors to the "Workshop" Pages will already have seen several machines painstakingly restored by Rick Newlee, and one of the more recent restorations is his Jawa 895 Lontracker.

The machine was originally bought from the late George Wenn back in 1999 or 2000 and after a spell of collecting dust in his Workshop, only recently has Rick been able to complete the restoration.
Rick recalls George mentioning that the machine had been ridden several times by the legendary Ivan Mauger as well as one of the Moran brothers out in Australia. It would seem however, that the bike was actually owned by George and lent to riders who were good enough to handle the Longtracker, at a time when they had the Ascot Park in Gardena, California that was a 1/2 mile dirt track.
After the frame and tank had been painted, Rick machined new engine plates and fitted a new rear wheel laced to the original hub. A new set of Gaurds were fitted in the same colours that Ivan used and a relica Ivan Mauger style seat was made to round it all off. Finally, the motor was cleaned and glass beaded and final touches such as the plating of nuts and bolts gave us the finished product.
Below are some pictures of the machine during, and after restoration. It should be noted however, that the photos have had to be greatly reduced in size, and as always, some of the qaulity is lost during reduction.
